Hawaii's Weekly Unemployment from June 26, 2010

The weekly unemployment statistics update is now on our DBEDT Internet site at:

Shown below is a quick look at this week's unemployment data - initial claims filed AS COMPARED TO THE SAME WEEK LAST YEAR:

Statewide initial unemployment claims decreased by 30.0%, with this week’s total filings of 1,810 and filings during the same week in 2009 of 2,587.

Comparing 2010 to 2009 for the counties:

  • Hawaii had 148 fewer claims filed
  • Maui had 205 fewer claims filed
  • Kauai had 46 fewer claims filed

In comparing the current week to the same week a year ago

  • Oahu had an 28.3% decrease
  • Hawaii had a 26.6% decrease
  • Maui had a 42.0% decrease
  • Kauai had a 28.9% decrease
